Council for the City of Port Alberni is committed to fostering a safe, healthy, and inclusive community that offers a high quality of life for its residents. To support this goal, the City is planning a multimodal pathway connecting Harbour Quay to Victoria Quay.
Connect the Quays will:
• Extend approximately 4.0 km from Harbour Quay to Victoria Quay
• Celebrate local Indigenous culture and history
• Create opportunities for recreation and active transportation
• Connect neighbourhoods and citizens
• Link with existing City trail systems
• Highlight Port Alberni’s waterfront and its many uses, past and present
Phase 1 of the Connect the Quays Pathway is set to commence in early July and will entail the construction of a base-level asphalt pathway, with design elements and seating nodes to come later after engagement and consultation with First Nations and community partners [see full information on Phase 1 in the news feed below].

The City of Port Alberni is welcoming community input on a proposed pathway from Harbour Quay to Victoria Quay. Depending on the routes selected, the pathway could be up to approximately 4 km in length. The pathway will be a flat or gently sloped, asphalt, multi-modal, non-motorized, two-way route. The pathway will be lit for comfortable use at night, and provide a safe, family-friendly active transportation corridor.
