Help Plan for Play in PA!

With the community, the City of Port Alberni is creating its first Parks, Recreation & Culture (PRC) Master Plan!

Our City has many great recreation facilities, parks, trails, and programs that provide residents opportunities to be active and engaged. But change is on the horizon. The City's population is growing, our existing facilities are aging, and we need to be strategic about how best to invest in PRC services for the future. To support sustainable and transparent decisions, the City is working with the community to create a Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan.

The planning process is happening over the 3 phases (shown below). In each phase, there will be opportunities for you to participate through events, surveys, and other activities.

Phase 2 is Engagement is Now Closed

Thank you to all who took time to engage and share their input and ideas in Phase 2!

From November through to January 9, the City welcomed feedback on the goals, visions, and emerging directions for the PRC Master Plan. We received input through an open house, community survey, and meetings. The team is now reviewing and analyzing the input to inform the Draft Master Plan. We will refer the Draft Plan back to the community for review this spring. Stay tuned for engagement dates!

The Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan is one of many master planning projects the City is undertaking to support strategic long-term planning for civic assets. Click here to learn more about all the Master Plans!
